The Art of Tai Chi
T’ai Chi Chuan is an ancient Chinese martial art, that is based on softness rather than strength, that is studied for relaxation , health and self-defence. . De kunst is gebaseerd op ontspanning, balans en bewustheid in plaats van op spierkracht. De heilzame effecten van T''ai Chi zijn velerlei. Door regelmatig te oefenen ontspant je hele lichaam, worden je gewrichten soepeler, verbetert je bloedsomloop en wordt je geest leeg. Jong of oud, iedereen kan T'ai Chi beoefenen. Het ultieme doel van T'ai Chi is het opgaan in de Tao. Hoewel niet te benoemen, zou je het de spontane weg der dingen kunnen noemen.
Cheng Man-Ch'ing: Master of 5 excellences
The T'ai Chi that we teach is the Yang Style Short Form as passed on by Patrick Watson (1935 - 1992), senior student of Professor Cheng Man-Ch’ing (1901-1975). Prof Cheng Man-Ch'ing was known as a master of the 5 excellences, being painting, calligraphy, medicine, poetry and T'ai Chi CHuan. Read more
When you start a Beginners 1 course with us, you can ask for a beginners package T'ai Chi. This consists of shoes, a DVD and a poster. The DVD and poster are a good support for your personal practice of the form. The typical T'ai Chi shoes have been the perfect footwear to practice this delicate art for ages.
Would you like to rent our space?
Our school is located in the center of Amsterdam, at Kerkstraat 441. which is close to the 'Skinny Bridge'. If you are interested to use our space please send an e-mail to: firstname.lastname@example.org. The space consists of an entrance room, the main space (about 80 m2, with heated bamboo floor and mirror wall) and a small backroom.
Special student rate
To encourage you as a student to include the art of relaxation as part of your curriculum we have a special student fee of only 7,50 per hour.
